Inter Milan captain Samir Handanovic is confident that the Nerazzurri will do their fans proud against Man City.

Speaking to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s Serie A win over Torino, via FCInterNews, the 38-year-old gave his thoughts on the upcoming Champions League final, and also called fellow goalkeeper Alex Cordaz his friend.

Inter have a massive opportunity before them next Saturday.

In one week’s time, the Nerazzurri will play for a chance to win European club football’s biggest trophy.

Up against them, however, will be an incredibly formidable Man City side. Pep Guardiola’s men showed this with their victory over city rivals in the FA Cup final.

On the other hand, Inter deserve to be in the final just as much as City do.

The Nerazzurri proved that with their victories over Barcelona, Porto, Benfica, and AC Milan to get to this point.

Now, the question will be whether Inter can play the same way against their toughest opponent yet, or if the Cityzens will prove to simply be a class above the rest.

Inter Captain Handanovic: We’ll Do The Fans Proud Vs Man City

For his part, Handanovic feels that one way or the other, they will give their fans something to be proud of.

“I can promise that we will give everything on the pitch,” he said ahead of the final. “And that we’ll make them proud of us.”

Looking across his eleven years at Inter, the captain said that “Things have improved, and I’m happy that Inter are back where they deserve to be.”

“We’re looking forward to this match,” he said of the final.

And of being in the top ten appearance-makers in Serie A and for Inter, Handanovic said “I’m happy. That doesn’t happen to everyone.”

Handanovic also had a word for his teammate Alex Cordaz.

Cordaz is the Nerazzurri’s third-choice goalkeeper, and made his first appearance for the club since re-joining in 2021 yesterday.

Cordaz came off the bench for Handanovic in the second half against Torino, making one outstanding save.

“We always joke around with him as well as with the other guys,” Handanovic said of Cordaz. “He’s the one who keeps the group together.”

“Maybe he hasn’t gotten on the pitch much, but he’s done a lot in the locker room and behind the scenes.”

“He’s a positive guy,” Handanovic said of Cordaz. “I have a great friendship with him which happened immediately. I’m glad he played, and he deserves to play more.”
