Inter Milan have identified Monza wingback Carlos Augusto as a potential replacement if Robin Gosens leaves this summer.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are monitoring the 24-year-old in view of a move if they decide to sell Gosens during the transfer window.

At the moment, Inter have both Gosens and Federico Dimarco in the squad covering the left flank. Accordingly, a left-sided wingback is not a priority for the summer window.

However, Gosens in particular is linked with a move away.

The former Atalanta man is reportedly a target for all of Wolfsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.

Whilst Gosens has gotten a foothold in the team in recent weeks, he is not first-choice ahead of Dimarco.

As such, it’s hardly out of the question that the 28-year-old could be sold if the right offer comes along. Moreover, the player could well accept a move if it means more playing time.

Were Gosens to leave, Inter want to be ready to replace him right away.

And according to Sky, the Nerazzurri have a like-for-like target lined up right in Serie A.

Inter Milan Have Monza Breakout Star Carlos Augusto On Their Radar

24-year-old Brazilian Carlos Augusto has been one of the breakout stars of this Monza team in the season just gone.

Having helped the Brianzoli reach Serie A last campaign, this time around he’s shone in the top flight.

Augusto has been a key player for Monza particularly in attack. He has made 35 appearances in Serie A for Raffaele Palladino’s side.

In the process, the Brazilian has managed six goals and five assists.

This form has certainly caused some big clubs to sit up and take notice.

According to Sky, Inter are very keen on Augusto as a direct replacement if Gosens is to head for the exit door.
