Inter Milan midfielder Turkish international midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu feels that there’s no reason to fear Man City being favourites in the Champions League final.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, the Turk made clear that the Nerazzurri are not in the final by chance any more than City are, and that they can play their cards against the Premier League champions.
Manchester City are are the favorites among the bookies and pundits alike. This stems from the dominant form that Pep Guardiola’s team have shown throughout the season.
Furthermore, Inter have not faced an opponent as formidable as this City team are during this season.
Therefore, considering that Man City have thrashed Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Arsenal in recent weeks, their quality is clear.
However, Inter have seemingly always saved their best for matches against the most difficult opposition this campaign.
Moreover, the likes of Barcelona, Napoli, AC Milan, and Benfica have all fallen in big matches against the Nerazzurri. From the perspective of Calhanoglu, there is no reason for Inter to shy away from the tag of underdogs.
Inter Midfielder Calhanoglu: Not Afraid Of Man City
Of City being considered the favourites tomorrow, Calhanoglu said that “I know everyone says that, that’s fine.”
“Let’s just focus on ourselves,” he continued.
“It’s no coincidence that we’re here in the final. We proved that against every opponent that we’ve faced,” the 29-year-old former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen star went on.
“Even dominating many matches. Tomorrow we’ll go out onto the pitch without fear,” he made very clear.
Asked about how he thinks tomorrow’s match will end, Calhanoglu was coy and effusive. “We’ll see tomorrow, you know me,” the Turkish international said.
In conclusion Calhanoglu stated “I don’t like to talk before the matches, we’ll see what happens after the final.”
