Inter Milan-linked Finnish billionaire Thomas Zilliacus has revealed that he is focusing on clubs other than Man United due to price tag.

Explaining his company’s strategy on his Twitter account, Zilliacus confirmed an interest in football investment, but also that he feels that investing in United would be too expensive.

Recently, Zilliacus has emerged as a possible candidate to buy Inter from Suning. News service Reuters has reported that he is interested in buying the Nerazzurri.

The Finn could acquire the club through his investment company XXI Century Football Capital.

Reuters have reported that two sources close to the process have confirmed that the Finnish entrepreneur’s interest is serious.

According to the sources that Reuters spoke to, advisers will set a deadline for the final round of bidding within the next four weeks. They suggest that a purchase of Inter could be completed sometime towards the end of the summer.

Zilliacus Switches Focus From Man United – Coy On Inter Milan Rumours

Zilliacus has previously been among the parties interested in buying Premier League giants Manchester United from the Glazer family.

However, the Finnish billionaire has explained his reasons for pulling out of that process.

The potential cost involved in convincing the Glazers to sell is key to his reasoning.

This does not, however, mean that the Finish billionaire has lost interest in purchasing a major football club altogether. This could drive the speculation about his interest in the Nerazzurri.

He tweeted that “XXI Century Football Capital believes the price of Manchester United has reached levels where investments no longer make sense.”

“We therefore have turned our attention to other clubs.

Zilliacus then went on that “Lately my name has been linked to Inter Milan. It is a great club with a fantastic history. The owner has however said the club is not for sale. Let’s all respect that and support Inter in tomorrow’s final.”

“I predict a narrow win for the Nerazzurri,” he added.
