Marcelo Brozovic is set to start for Inter Milan in this evening’s Champions League final against Man City.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, who report that the 30-year-old is ahead of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to start against the Cityzens, whilst Edin Dzeko is also favourite to start the match over Romelu Lukaku.

One of Simone Inzaghi’s main selection dilemma this evening concerns the midfield trio.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has started every knockout match in the Champions League to date. However, the Armenian is coming back from a thigh injury.

Mkhitaryan picked up his injury during the Nerazzurri’s semifinal second leg against AC Milan. He has not made an appearance in over three weeks, missing Inter’s last three league matches and the Coppa Italia final against Fiornetina.

Accordingly, there are big questions about Mkhitaryan’s fitness for this evening’s match. The former Roma and Arsenal man will certainly be in the squad.

However, given that Mkhitaryan has only just made a full return to training, he is likelier to be used from the bench.

Accordingly, Brozovic will start. The Croat will be part of a midfield trio along with Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella.

With Brozovic starting, Calhanoglu will move to the left-sided role in the trio, as Brozovic will take his customary spot at the base of midfield.

The 30-year-old has missed big chunks of this season through injury. However, he has been back to full fitness for the run-in of the season.

Brozovic has put in some outstanding performances, particularly with Mkhitaryan absent.

Ex-Man City Star Edin Dzeko Will Also Start

Meanwhile, Sky also anticipates that Dzeko is favourite to start against his former club City.

The broadcaster reports that the Bosnian is the clear favourite to start ahead of Romelu Lukaku.

He will lead the line alongside Lautaro Martinez from the first minute. Lukaku will then be ready to come off the bench during the match.
