Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is proud of his players despite the fact that they lost to Man City in the Champions League final this evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, via FCInterNews, the Nerazzurri coach also affirmed his hope that the team can make it back to the Champions League final soon.

Inter have fallen at the last hurdle in European football’s biggest club competition.

The Nerazzurri lost by the narrowest of margins, losing 0-1 to Manchester City in a match where they had plenty of chances to at least force extra time.

It comes as a bitter way in which to end a memorable European campaign for this Inter team.

However, for his part, coach Inzaghi is choosing the focus on the positive aspects. The 47-year-old feels that the team have given a great account of themselves even in defeat.

And he hopes that they can get right back to this stage soon.

“We were unable to finish, but in the second half we hit the crossbar, there was Gosens’s header, the save on Lukaku where you can only wonder how it didn’t go in,” Inzaghi said.

“I would have liked to play extra time,” the coach admitted.
