Following a successful campaign on loan in Serie B, Inter Milan striker Samuele Mulattieri could join Sassuolo next season.

The 22-year-old spent his campaign on loan at Frosinone who earned a promotion to the Italian top flight after routing the competition en route towards lifting the Serie B trophy.

For his part, Mulattieri contributed with 12 goals and four assists in his 29 league appearances. But despite his exploits in the second tier, the Italian is unlikely to find space at Appiano Gentile.

So according to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Inter will offload Mulattieri in the summer, and his next destination could be Sassuolo.

As the source explains, the Emilians have a knack for snatching young and talented Italians. The Neroverdi helped in launching the careers of several top forwards, the likes of Domenico Berardi, Giacomo Raspadori and Gianluca Scamacca.

Therefore, it would be interesting to see how the Nerazzurri would fare at the Mapei Stadium next season in what would be his maiden experience in Serie A.

Mulattieri started his career at his hometown club of Spezia before joining Inter’s youth ranks in 2018.

After spending two years with the club’s Primavera squad, he embarked on successive loan stints, starting with Volendam in the Netherlands.

Last season, he played for Crotone, but his true breakthrough came this season at Frosinone who enjoyed a memorable campaign.

Mulattieri will now return to Inter following the expiry of his most recent loan spell, but it remains to be seen if his next career adventure will be in Sassuolo as the source suggests.
