Inter Milan and AC Milan are both keen to sign West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca, but the player is leaning towards joining Roma.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 24-year-old striker wants playing time, and has made it known that if he is to return to Serie A, the Giallorossi would be his first-choice destination.

Scamacca only joined West Ham United last summer.

The Hammers paid a hefty €36 million fee plus €6 million in add-ons to bring the Italian international to the London Stadium from Sassuolo.

However, Scamacca could already leave east London after just one season. The reason is that the 24-year-old has not found anywhere near the playing time he had expected playing in the Premier League.

Inter & Milan Want Scamacca, But Roma Lead The Chase

Scamacca, who has made eleven appearances for the senior Italian national team since making his debut in 2021, had made only sixteen appearances in the league for West Ham in his debut campaign in east London.

The 24-year-old has never really found favour playing under current Hammers coach Davide Moyes.

33-year-old Michail Antonio has continued to be the preferred option leading the line.

As such, Scamacca would welcome a move back to Serie A. The striker believes that a return to the Italian top flight could signal greater playing time for him next season.

Inter had already been keen to sign Scamacca from Sassuolo last summer before West Ham ultimately won the race for his signature. According to the Corriere, the Nerazzurri are very much interested in making another move for the Italian international.

Inter reportedly see Scamacca as a like-for-like replacement if Fenerbahce-linked Edin Dzeko leaves this summer.

Meanwhile, the Corriere report, Inter’s city rivals AC Milan are also hoping to sign Scamacca.

However, according to the newspaper, Scamacca currently prefers to make the switch to Roma.
