Teams in the Saudi Pro League have a serious interest in making a move to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

The Saudi Pro League has been at the centre of a flurry of activity during the summer transfer window.

Al-Nassr had already signed former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo as a free agent in January.

This summer, their rivals Al-Ittihad have signed Ronaldo’s former Real teammate Karim Benzema on a free transfer. Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is expected to join Benzema at the club soon.

Rumours are flying that teams from Saudi Arabia are far from done making ambitious moves for star players out of European football.

And, according to the Gazzetta, they could be keen to sign Inter midfielder Brozovic.

Saudi Arabian Teams Interested In Inter Star Marcelo Brozovic

Just a year ago, Brozovic leaving Inter would have seemed unthinkable, particularly to a club outside Europe’s elite. However, a coupe factors could push the Croat out the exit door.

A big one is the emergence of Hakan Calhanoglu as a starting-quality regista.

The Turkish international had been the emergency option at the base of midfield whilst Brozovic was out with an injury in October. However, Calhanoglu’s performances in the position had been so good that he is now arguably the first-choice option.

This means that Inter no longer have the same sort of urgency to keep hold of Brozovic as before.

Moreover, a rift has reportedly formed between Brozovic and Inter. At the root of it is some disagreement on how to manage a couple of long-term muscle injuries during the season.

All of this means that Inter could let Brozovic go for the right offer this summer. Newcastle United are reportedly among the teams interested in the 30-year-old’s signature.

And, according to the Gazzetta, teams from the Saudi Pro League are also sensing an opportunity.
