Legendary former Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti feels that current owners the Zhang family are big fans of the club.

Speaking to Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the former Nerazzurri President also gave his reaction to the Champions League final loss against Man City, and his thoughts on whether Inter could get another Milanese owner.

The Zhang family have been in charge of Inter for some time now, via the company Suning.

Suning is headed up by Chinese businessman Zhang Xindong, whilst his son Steven Zhang is Inter President.

The Zhang family and Suning’s running of Inter has not been without its criticism. This has particularly concerned the financial problems that have plagued the club since they’ve been in charge.

However, from the point of view of Moratti, at the very least their passion cannot be called into question.

Moratti: No Denying The Zhang Family’s Passion For Inter Milan

Asked whether he thinks that there could be another owner of Inter who is from the city of Milan similar to himself or former AC Milan President Silvio Berlusconi, Moratti was doubtful.

“We’ll see, it could happen,” he said. “However, I don’t see it happening for a long time.”

“With the amounts of money at stake, today clubs are run by investment funds, Emirs, and foreign entrepreneurs,” he suggested. “Who, over time, end up falling in love with the clubs.”

“Look at the Zhang family,” Moratti noted. “They’re huge fans. They love Inter.”

Moratti also gave his thoughts on the Champions League final against Man City.

“We could have won it,” he lamented. “We were unlucky.”

“The first half was bad, but in the second half Inter played well.”

“City seemed less strong than they usually do, thanks to Inzaghi’s tactics,” he added.

“He’s a very good coach.”

“As I’ve said many times, I admit that I would have sacked him in February, and I would have made a mistake in doing so.”
