Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is holding talks with Chelsea officials regarding the future of Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibaly.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri director will meet with several club officials from the Premier League in the next few days, but he kicked off his English tour in an important meeting with the Blues.

Naturally, the discussion involved Lukaku who made his return to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium last summer following an underwhelming 2021/22 campaign in West London.

Inter brought the Belgian back on a temporary basis and don’t even have the option to maintain him permanently.

Nevertheless, the report claims that the 29-year-old is keen to stay in Italy. Therefore, the clubs are working to find a solution on this front.

In addition to Lukaku, Inter and Chelsea have reportedly discussed the future of Koulibaly. Similar to the Belgian, the Senegalese defender struggled for form and playing time in his first campaign at Stamford Bridge.

As the source explains, the former Napoli centre-back is considered surplus to requirements at Chelsea, especially following the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as head coach.

Therefore, Chelsea are willing to entertain offers for the 31-year-old defender, while Inter are hoping to snatch his services on loan. He would practically replace the departing Milan Skriniar who will join Paris Saint-Germain next season.

However, the main hurdle remains Koulibaly’s hefty wages. The defender currently collects 10 million euros per season.
