Man United are reportedly ready to battle Chelsea for the signature of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andrè Onana.

According to The Athletic via FcInter1908, the Red Devils are looking to enter the fray and compete with their Premier League counterparts for the Cameroonian.

The 27-year-old joined the Nerazzurri as a free agent last summer and swiftly established himself as a pillar for the club. His heroics played an integral part in the club’s successful Champions League run.

However, the Beneamata would consider sacrificing his services if they were to receive a lucrative offer. As the source tells it, Inter would entertain offers that exceed 70 million euros.

But while Chelsea were reportedly the biggest favorites in the race for Andrè Onana, Man United may have a trick up the sleeve to prise away the Inter goalkeeper.

The report claims that the Red Devils would pounce on the rapport between the shot-stopper and his former Ajax coach Erik ten Hag who’s currently in charge at Old Trafford.

Nevertheless, David De Gea’s future will have a major impact on Man United’s interest in Onana.

As the source tells it, Manchester United’s priority this summer is signing a top-class striker in addition to a midfielder.

However, if the Spanish goalkeeper were to leave the club as a free agent, then the Red Devils will have to splash the cash on a new custodian, with Onana emerging as a primary target.

Last season, the Cameroonian international made 41 appearances for Inter across all competitions, registering 19 clean sheets.
