After spending two years at Inter Milan, Edin Dzeko will open a new chapter in his storied career as he’s on the cusp of joining Fenerbahce.

The 37-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in 2021 following an impressive stint at AS Roma. But with his contract expiring at the end of the month, he’s about to leave the Nerazzurri as a free agent.

According to FcInterNews, Fenerbahce have announced the imminent arrival of Dzeko through the club’s Twitter account.

The statement confirms that the Bosnian will soon land in Istanbul to undergo all customary medical tests that precede the final signatures.

So barring any surprising late twists, the former Wolfsburg and Man City bomber will embark on a new adventure in Turkey, which could possibly be his last in European football.

But despite his advanced playing age, the veteran still served the club admirably in the last two campaigns.

In 2021, he arrived as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku. He swiftly managed to form a strong partnership with Lautaro Martinez in Simone Inzaghi’s attack.

Despite the Belgian’s return last summer, Dzeko was able to maintain a starting berth up front. He scored 14 goals and provided his teammates with five assists across all competitions in the 2022/23 campaign.

Therefore, Inter Milan will be looking to bolster their ranks with a new striker, especially with Lukaku’s future remaining in doubt following the expiry of his loan stint from Chelsea.
