Union Berlin have reportedly made the opening bid in their pursuit to sign Inter Milan wingback Robin Gosens.

The German club secured its spot in the next edition of the Champions League after finishing the season among the Top Four in the Bundesliga. Therefore, they will be looking to bolster their ranks with quality players.

According to Sky Sport Deutschland via FcInterNews, Union Berlin have made their first concrete offer to Inter Milan’s Gosens.

Nevertheless, the report believes that the talks between the two clubs haven’t started just yet.

The 28-year-old joined the Nerazzurri in January 2022 following a brilliant stint at Atalanta. However, he has struggled with fitness, form and playing time following his arrival at Appiano Gentile.

The German international showed signs of improvement as the season progressed, but he remains an understudy to Federico Dimarco on the left flank.

Last season, he made 49 appearances across all competition, with the majority coming as a second-half substitute. He contributed with three goals in the process.

Therefore, the source claims that Gosens is currently reflecting on the proposal. This would be a homecoming for the player who hasn’t played for a German club since 2012.

For their part, the Nerazzurri could be eager to sell the wingback has hasn’t truly met the expectations following his arrival to the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium.

This transfer would boost the club’s financials with valuable income that would be reinvested in the market.
