Young Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has denied any suggestion that his former club Inter Milan are still the “team of his heart.”

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in the Sportweek insert in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old made clear that he considers himself committed to Chelsea, and has never necessarily rooted for one single team.

Last summer, Casadei made a high profile move from Inter to Chelsea.

The transfer drew a lot of attention because Inter sold the midfielder for a significant fee despite the fact he’d never made a first team appearance.

Casadei had shone at the Primavera level for the Nerazzurri. However, there were questions about whether or not the young midfield would translate to the senior game.

Asked if the Nerazzurri are still the “team of his heart,” Casadei replied that “I’ll be honest. I’ve never really had one.”

“As a football fan, I’ve always followed players more than I have clubs,” he added.

Casadei also noted that “I have a five-year contract, it’s long-term. I’ve embarked on a long project here.”
