Former Inter Milan and Fiorentina goalkeeper Sebastien Frey feels that Andre Onana will end up departing from the Nerazzurri this summer.

Speaking to Italian news outlet Goal.com, via FCInterNews, the Frenchman praised Onana but predicted that Inter will sell him.

Onana’s future has become a real hot topic for the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are reportedly pushing to sign the Cameroonian. Meanwhile, Chelsea have also reportedly been after him.

Inter certainly wouldn’t let a player as vital as Onana go for any small fee. However, reports suggest that United in particular are inclined to make a huge cash offer.

Given the Nerazzurri’s financial objectives, they may well decide to accept a bid for Onana.

If the 27-year-old were to be on his way, Inter would lose arguably the outstanding goalkeeper in last season’s Champions League. Moreover, Onana is the man who Inter have earmarked to replace captain Samir Handanovic in goal.

Whilst a new first-choice goalkeeper could be found, it would be tough to find one with the quality that Onana has shown in his first season wearing a Nerazzurri shirt.

Frey Expects Inter Milan To Let Andre Onana Leave

Former Nerazzurri goalkeeper Frey gave his thoughts on the situation.

“Football today is different than it was in my generation,” the Frenchman observed. “Moratti’s Inter could afford to keep a player regardless of the size of an offer that they received.”

“Now there are other needs to think about,” he continued. “But if it just depended on me. I would keep him, because it’s difficult to find a great goalkeeper.”

Frey argued that “If they want to win trophies, then they should keep him.”

“Unfortunately, I think they’ll let him leave,” the former keeper then predicted.

Onana arrived at Inter on a free transfer from Ajax last summer. The Cameroonian made forty appearances for Inter across all competitions in his first season.
