Union Berlin could complete a deal to sign Inter Milan wingback Robin Gosens on an initial loan this summer.

This according to German news outlet Kicker, via FCInter1908, who report that a loan deal containing a purchase option or obligation would be one possibility for the Bundesliga’s Champions League new boys to bring in the former Atalanta star.

Union Berlin are looking to make reinforcements ahead of their first ever season in the Champions League.

One of the main targets that the club from the German capital have identified is Inter wingback Gosens.

The German may not have had the most auspicious season and a half at Inter since arriving last January. However, with injuries now behind him, Gosens is starting to look more like the player who convinced the Nerazzurri to sign him from Atalanta.

Moreover, Kicker report, Gosens would be open to the move to Union. The 28-year-old’s priority for next season is playing time.

He wants to make sure that he cements himself in Germany’s squad for the Euros next summer.

Accordingly, Gosens himself would be happy to join Union to be first-choice on the left flank.

Union Berlin Could Try To Close Deal For Robin Gosens On Loan

The Nerazzurri are reportedly asking for €20 million for the 28-year-old, who is also a target for Wolfsburg, Nottingham Forest, and Bournemouth.

This amount is steep for Union. The club from the German capital are hardly a traditional financial powerhouse.

Accordingly, even with Union ready to break their own transfer record, it will still be a financially difficult deal.

Moreover, Kicker notes, Gosens’s wages will be quite high for a club of Union’s resources.

According to the German outlet, Union could look to make a deal for Gosens happen on loan. This would contain either an option or an obligation for them to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis.

In any event, Kicker report, Union have yet to make a formal offer to Inter for Gosens.
