Hakan Calhanoglu has signed a new contract with Inter Milan, keeping him at the club until the end of June 2027.

This is confirmed by Inter Milan in an official announcement. Calhanoglu has cemented himself as an important player for the Nerazzurri since joining from city rivals AC Milan.

Accordingly, extending the Turkish international’s contract has been a priority for the Nerazzurri.

The 29-year-old’s previous contract had run until the end of next June. However, Inter never wanted to get anywhere near the point where Calhanoglu’s deal expiring without an extension in hand.

Now, they have made it official.

Inter have secured Calhanoglu’s future with a new four-year deal running until the end of June 2027.

Hakan Calhanoglu Ready To Continue Adventure With Inter Milan

Calhanoglu made the switch to Inter across the city divide from Milan in the summer of 2021.

The Nerazzurri snatched the Turk, formerly also of Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg, on a free transfer after he declined the Rossoneri’s offer of a contract extension.

Despite his four seasons playing for Milan, Calhanoglu wasted no time making his mark in an Inter shirt.

In his first season at the club, Calhanoglu played mainly on the left of midfield. This was the role that Inter signed him for initially, to take the place of Christian Eriksen in their midfield trio.

Last season, however, Calhanoglu’s role changed.

During an extended injury absence of Marcelo Brozovic, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi called on Calhanoglu as an emergency solution at the base of midfield.

Far from looking out of place, the Turk excelled in the role.

So much so, in fact, that Calhanoglu arguable became first choice in the role. This certainly appears to be the decision of Inter, as they’ve sold Brozovic to Al-Nassr.

Calhanoglu, on the other hand, has received the full faith and backing of the club in the form of a new deal. He will be at the heart of the Nerazzurri’s midfield for some time to come.

Calhanoglu has made a total of 95 appearances for Inter so far in the past two seasons. He has scored twelve goals in the process.
