Inter Milan have pinpointed Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin as the ideal candidate to replace André Onana.

The Nerazzurri are currently in talks with Man United who are eager to sign the Cameroonian goalkeeper. Therefore, the Italians must bring in a competent replacement this summer.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Trubin is the best profile to plug the gap that Onana could leave by joining the Red Devils.

The source explains why the Beneamata have identified the Ukrainian as the right man for the job.

First of all, we’re talking about a young custodian who will turn 22 in August. But despite his young age, he has already collected some valuable experience on the European and international stages.

Trubin is a youth product of Shakhtar who rose through the club’s ranks to become the ultimate first starter between the sticks. He has already featured for the club in Champions League and Europa League fixtures.

Moreover, the 21-year-old is also the first choice for the Ukrainian national team. He has seven international caps to his name.

On another note, his contract expires in 2024, so Inter will try to poach him for just 15 million euros. On the other hand, Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili would cost around 30 million euros.

The source also mentions a third choice in the shape of Atalanta-owned goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.

Finally, the arrival of a young shot-stopper at Inter Milan could prompt a renewal for Samir Handanovic who would remain at the club to serve as a mentor and reliable backup.
