Romelu Lukaku is getting closer and closer to returning to Inter Milan from Chelsea definitively for next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the coming days should see the Nerazzurri make the final push to sign the Belgian back after a meeting with the player’s lawyer yesterday.

As of now, Lukaku remains a Chelsea player.

Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino even suggested that as things stand he expects the 30-year-old to be part of the Londoners’ preseason.

However, all parties are well aware of the player’s real intentions. Lukaku wants Inter, and nothing else.

Yesterday, the Gazzetta reports, Inter held a meeting with Sebastien Ledure, the lawyer representing Lukaku. Ledure has been working as an intermediary making a deal for Lukaku to return to Inter happen.

According to the Gazzetta, the theme of the meeting was Inter making the decisive move for Lukaku. The Nerazzurri communicated to Ledure that they intend to get the deal over the line this week.

Inter Milan To Push To Sign Romelu Lukaku From Chelsea In Coming Days

Inter made clear to Ledure that they want to offer a deal to Chelsea that will be sufficient to quickly unlock negotiations once and for all..

The anticipated big money sale of Andre Onana to Manchester United will be of great assistance in this respect.

The difficulty in negotiations has long been Inter’s struggles to satisfy Chelsea’s request of a permanent sale. Inter have lacked the funds to make the right kind of offer. The Blues want to cash in on Lukaku once and for all and not loan him out again.

However, the Gazzetta reports, Inter will soon make an offer that they expect Chelsea to be happy with.

The Nerazzurri could offer to buy Lukaku outright, or at least offer a loan with a purchase obligation.

Inter don’t want to go higher than €30 million in terms of a fixed amount on an offer of a fee.

However, the inclusion of significant add-ons will bump the final amount up a lot. These will be linked to conditions like Champions League qualification and progression in next season’s competition.
