Inter Milan will hold talks with the agent of midfielder Roberto Pereyra this week about a possible summer transfer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 32-year-old is one of the main names on the Nerazzurri’s list of signings to complete their midfield for the upcoming season.

Former Juventus and Watford midfielder Pereyra’s contract has run out with Udinese. His deal expired at the end of last month.

As things stand, it’s not certain how he’ll move forward. If the 32-year-old does not sign an extension with the Friulani, he can join another club on a free transfer this summer.

Inter are among the clubs to have been linked with Pereyra.

Whilst they would hardly regard the Argentine as a replacement for Marcelo Brozovic, the Croat is not the only midfielder they have to replace this summer.

Roberto Gagliardini has also left the club. Accordingly, the Nerazzurri will either have to replace the 29-year-old. Otherwise they would head into next season with only five senior midfielders.

Inter Milan See Roberto Pereyra As Realistic Target In Midfield

As Tuttosport note, Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic would be Inter’s dream target to replace Gagliardini.

Signing the 21-year-old is still an idea for the Nerazzurri, and they haven’t given up entirely. However, the newspaper make clear, it won’t be easy to meet Udinese’s demands for the former RB Leipzig man.

Therefore, Tuttosport notes, Inter could decide to pursue a very low-cost deal for a player like Pereyera.

The Argentine would arrive without a transfer fee, and would not demand particularly high wages.

Moreover, Pereyra is an experienced option whose suitability for Serie A is hardly in question. The 32-year-old’s versatility is also an asset.

Inter will sit down with Pereyra’s agent Federico Pastorello this week for talks about a potential signing. Whether it is Pereyra or Samardzic, Tuttosport report, Inter will likely sign a player who was playing for Udinese last season to complete their midfield.
