Genoa have made initial contact with Inter Milan to try and sign striker Eddie Salcedo again for next season.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who report that the Grifone have shown an interest in bringing the 21-year-old back after having had him on loan for the second half of last season.

Inter will have a decision to make about the future of Italy under-21 international Salcedo this summer.

The young striker’s current contract with the Nerazzurri runs out at the end of next June.

Therefore, Inter’s options are to either sell the player permanently, extend his contract and then loan him out for another season, or else risk losing him for nothing in twelve months’ time.

For the past few seasons, Salcedo has gone on several loan spells.

During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, the young Italian striker was on loan at Hellas Verona. Playing for the Gialloblu, Salcedo developed a fair bit under coach Ivan Juric.

Then, in the summer of 2021, he made the switch to join Spezia on loan.

During the following season in Liguria, Salcedo found playing time difficult to come by. The fact that Spezia were fighting off relegation and largely relied on experienced and proven players certainly didn’t help his cause.

Genoa Interested In Signing Eddie Salcedo From Inter Milan

Last summer, Salcedo joined Bari on loan in Serie B.

There, he spent the first half of the season.

However, in the January transfer window, Salcedo made the switch to his former club Genoa.

It had been the Grifone who had sold Salcedo to Inter in the first place.

The young striker helped the Ligurians achieve promotion to Serie A, bouncing straight back after a season in the second division.

Now, Genoa are thinking about their plans for their first season back in the top flight.

And, according to TMW, they are interested in bringing Salcedo back. The Italian outlet report that they have contacted Inter about the possibility of signing the striker back this summer.
