Romelu Lukaku will be absent from the start of Chelsea preseason training tomorrow as Inter Milan prepare a new offer for his signature.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Belgian will not be part of the Blues squad that begins preparations for next season, with the Nerazzurri ready to make an offer in excess of €30 million.

So far, Chelsea have rejected Inter’s initial offer for Lukaku.

The Nerazzurri made an initial bid worth around €25 million to sign the Belgian on a permanent basis. This came after the Blues made perfectly clear that they have no intention of listening to any offers for another loan deal.

However, the Blues have rejected the Nerazzurri’s bid. They still want more money to shake hands on a deal for Lukaku.

Inter aren’t wasting any time, however. They are in contact with Lukaku’s lawyer Sebastien Ledure, who is in turn working with Chelsea.

And with these negotiations heating up, Lukaku won’t be a part of Chelsea’s return to preseason training tomorrow.

He certainly does not expect to be a Chelsea player come the start of next season.

Inter Milan Ready To Make Increased Offer For Lukaku – Chelsea Star To Miss Training

According to the Gazzetta, Inter are now preparing to make an offer worth in excess of €30 million to sign Lukaku.

This could rise even higher with the inclusion of add-ons.

Inter’s stance is that they would be willing to include fairly significant add-ons in the deal, which would be linked to competitive success.

Therefore, if the Nerazzurri were to example win the Serie A title, this would entail another payment to Chelsea. Progression in the Champions League, ditto.

Thusly, Inter would be able to get to around €40 million in terms of the potential final fee to Chelsea. However, some of that amount would be contingent on success on the pitch, and the financial windfall accompanying it.

For their part, the Gazzetta suggests, Chelsea would be willing to sit at the table on the basis of around €40 million.

The Blues’ hope has been to bring in a fee of €45 million. This would be the magic number that would allow them to avoid a capital loss on Lukaku.

However, Chelsea certainly want to make sure that they offload the 30-year-old one way or the other. Therefore, they will consider a bid that reaches €40 million.
