Juan Cuadrado sees it as an honour to join Inter Milan this summer.

Giving his first interview to InterTV after signing with the Nerazzurri, via FCInterNews, the 35-year-old Colombian international called the Nerazzurri “one of the biggest clubs in Europe” and noted that Colombian former Nerazzurri defender Ivan Cordoba has already spoken to him.

It’s official – Juan Cuadrado is now an Inter Player.

The 35-year-old made the switch on a free transfer after his contract with the Nerazzurri’s Dereby d’Italia rivals Juventus expired.

The fact that Cuadrado has an eight-year association with the Bianconeri and has joined Inter has raised a few eyebrows.

There’s little doubt that the Colombian will have to work hard to win over his new fans.

However, for his part, Cuadrado is happy to be taking the next step in his career at Inter. Moreover, he knows that he follows in the footsteps of an iconic former Nerazzurri player in the form of his countryman Cordoba.

Juan Cuadrado Calls Joining Inter Milan An “Honour”

“I’m very happy,” Cuadrado said after signing his Nerazzurri contract. “I thank God for this opportunity.”

“Inter is one of the biggest clubs in Europe, so I’m happy to be here.”

Asked if he’s already spoken with Cordoba about his transfer, Cuadrado replied “Yes, of course.”

“We’re very close,” he said of his relationship with the legendary former defender. “We speak regularly.”

“When I was about to break his record for matches played in Europe by a Colombian, we joked together,” Cuadrado noted. “I told him I would never be able to beat it, but he gave me motivation by telling me that it could be done.”

“More than just a role model, Ivan is also my friend,” Cuadrado said of Cordoba. “And I’m very happy to be here next to him.”

As for his decision to join Inter, Cuadrado said that “I had a lot of offers, but Italy is a second home for me.”

“My family is very attached to this country,” he noted. “And then it was possible for me to stay here, with his great club. When you look at this club’s history, we all know what Inter represents.”

“The important thing is that my family and I are happy here,” the 35-year-old added. “We’ve had the opportunity to stay in a place that’s home for us.”

“This was certainly the best choice,” he added.
