Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid are still struggling to make significant progress in the negotiations for Alvaro Morata.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri and the Rojiblancos held further talks on Wednesday. While the two sides were hoping to reach an agreement, they remain in a deadlock.

As the source explains, Inter already have an accord in principle with the player over personal terms. However, they can’t seem to find a way to lower Atletico’s asking price.

At the moment, the Italians are offering 15 million euros, payable in three installments. However, the Spaniards insist on collecting 21 million.

Inter deem this figure excessive, as the player’s contract will expire in a year (the summer of 2024).

Inter Milan Still Can’t Find An Agreement With Atletico Madrid Over The Transfer Of Alvaro Morata

The Beneamata resorted to the 30-year-old as an alternative to Romelu Lukaku. The club has recently dropped out of the race for the Belgian’s services due to the latter’s controversial behavior and the surfacing of Juventus links.

For his part, Inter Milan manager gave the green light for Morata’s pursuit. The Spain striker has important Serie A experience under the belt, having represented Juventus for four years (between 2014 and 2016 and again from 2020 to 2022).

However, the Nerazzurri might have to seek other profiles if they fail to reduce the gap with Atletico Madrid regarding the player’s valuation.

The next in line could be Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun who enjoyed a stellar campaign on loan at Stade Reims.
