Despite recent hurdles, Inter Milan are still eager to sign veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich.

The departures of Samir Handanovic and Andre Onana have left the club with two vacancies in the goalkeeping department.

Raffaele Di Gennaro has joined as a backup shot-stopper, effectively replacing Alex Cordaz as the third choice.

Nonetheless, the management still has major work to do in order to revamp this department.

The Nerazzurri have identified Sommer as the best available candidate for the job. The Swiss has significant experience under the belt, is a reliable goalkeeper and has an affordable price tag.

But as we reported yesterday, Bayern Munich are no longer willing to deprive themselves of the 34-year-old’s services after failing to sign Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili.

But according to Sky Sport journalist Gianluca Di Marzio via FcInterNews, Inter Milan are still determined to buy Sommer.

Although the negotiations are going tad slowly at the moment, the Nerazzurri are still hoping to put the deal over the line as soon as possible.
