Inter Milan are still optimistic that they can sign Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin despite hurdles in negotiations.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are pressing on in their attempts to make a deal for the 21-year-old even if his club are still digging in their heels regarding the fee.

Trubin remains a significant target for Inter in attack.

The Nerazzurri see the 21-year-old as an ideal candidate to grow into the first-choice role in the seasons to come. Whilst they are targeting Yann Sommer as a short-term option, Inter believe that Trubin can hold down the fort in goal for well over a decade into the future.

Therefore, signing Trubin remains one of Inter’s major goals for the remaining weeks of the transfer window.

But the same obstacle that they have been struggling with for weeks now remains – distance from Shakhtar regarding a fee.

Inter Milan Still Believe That Signing Anatoliy Trubin Possible

Naturally, these difficulties have spurred some doubt on Inter’s side of things.

The fact that the Nerazzurri are resolute in their desire not to go far beyond €10 million in their offer for Trubin is certainly not making things easy. Shakhtar, for their part, seem determined to pocket as high a fee as possible – they’ve stuck to around €30 million.

In addition, Inter want to keep things like agent’s fees down as much as possible.

The Nerazzurri see Trubin as a low-cost opportunity given his contract situation.

Inter don’t want their spending on a deal for the Ukrainian to get out of control.

But, the Gazzetta report, Inter still believe that as the transfer window rolls on, they will have their opportunity.

Far from having walked away from talks, the Nerazzurri are waiting to see if Shakhtar soften their stance.

Trubin himself wants the move to happen, and this could make the difference.
