Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is mildly pleased with his team’s performance against Al-Nassr but calls for improvements.
The Nerazzurri took on Cristiano Ronaldo and company in their first friendly test of the Japan summer tour. The match took place in Osaka on Thursday.
But while some were expecting the Italians to rout the Saudi Pro League side, they ended up settling for a draw.
Abdulrahman Ghareeb broke the deadlock in favor of the Saudi Pro League club in the 23rd minute. Davide Frattesi scored the equalizer just before the halftime break.
Nevertheless, Inzaghi lauds the club’s new signings for their ability to adjust in a short period of time.
“All the new players have done well in the match. It’s not easy to join a top team like Inter that has fixed principles and a defined style of play for the last two years,” said the Nerazzurri manager at his press conference via FcInterNews.
“So I’m happy with the new players, everyone has settled in in the best possible way. In general, the boys have been doing well even though we’ve only been working together for a short period of time.”
However, Inzaghi admits that the players must do better in front of goal. This is an issue that has been haunting the club for a while. But the Inter boss expects quick improvements in this department.
“Today, we showed organization. It was a good game, we created a lot, but we had to make more out of it.
“We also should have done better to avoid the goal we conceded. But we will improve.
“Once our conditioning improves, we will do better in both phases of the game. We want to win every match, but it’s not always possible.
“When our physical condition improves we will become more clinical even in front of goal.
“Given the opportunities we had, we deserved to win, but Al-Nassr also played an excellent match. They possess several valuable players. Arab football is undergoing a great evolution.”
