Thanks to a new transfer rule concerning non-EU players, Inter Milan have received a boost in their attempts to land Trevoh Chalobah this summer.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, English players are no longer considered non-EU players.

The regulations state that Italian clubs can only sign a limited number of non-European players in every transfer session.

So thanks to the new modification, Serie A clubs would be able to sign English players while keeping their non-EU spots intact. As the source explains, this new rule will be applied with immediate effect.

Therefore, the report believes that this update could increase Inter’s chances of signing Chalobah this summer.

The 24-year-old is a Chelsea youth product who enjoyed his breakthrough in the 2021/22 campaign.

However, the Englishman struggled for playing time last term following the arrival of a host of new defenders. Wesley Fofana, Kalidou Koulibaly and Benoit Badiashile all joined the Blues last season.

The New Non-EU Rule Could Boost The Chances Of Inter Milan In Landing Trevoh Chalobah

Therefore, Chalobah might consider a new adventure away from Stamford Bridge. Trevoh is the young brother of Nathaniel Chalobah who had a loan stint at Napoli in 2015/16.

Speaking of the Italian champions, the source claims that the Partenopei are also keeping tabs on the former England U21 starlet.

This summer, Inter have lost the services of Milan Skriniar and Danilo D’Ambrosio who left the club after seeing out their contracts.

The Nerazzurri managed to sign young German defender Yann Bisseck. However, Simone Inzaghi’s squad still requires some enhancement at the back.
