Chelsea finding an agreement in principle with Monazo for defender Axel Disasi could help Inter Milan out in their long-term pursuit of defender Trevoh Chalobah.

This according to UK news outlet The Athletic, who report that the Blues are closing in on a deal to sign 25-year-old French international Disasi, which could in turn lead them to listen to offers for Nerazzurri target Chalobah.

According to The Athletic, Chelsea are getting close to signing Monaco defender Disasi for next season.

The UK outlet report that the Blues have reached an agreement in principle with the Frenchman’s club. They are ready to pay €45 million to sign the defender.

Disasi would be injury cover for another French defender in the form of Wesley Fofana. The former Saint-Etienne and Leicester City defender looks as though he’ll miss much of next season with a serious knee injury.

Therefore, the Blues have decided to move in the transfer market to find a solution.

However, Fofana is not the only player in Chelsea’s squad who Disasi’s arrival could have ramifications for.

There are also big question marks about what this move will mean for Trevho Chalobah.

Disasi Move To Chelsea Could Help Inter Sign Chalobah

Chelsea defender Chalobah has been on Inter’s radar for at least a year.

During both last summer transfrer window and the January window, the Nerazzurri were reportedly looking at the Englishman as a replacement for Milan Skriniar.

The Slovakian did not leave then. However, he has done so now to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are still aiming to replace Skriniar before the end of the summer window.

Chalobah remains one of their major targets to do so.

And Disasi’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could well hand Inter a boost in their pursuit.

Chalobah is a graduate of Chelsea’s youth academy. However, the 23-year-old has never quite been first-choice for the Blues in defense.

The fact that the Premier League giants have chosen to sign a player for big money to cover for the injured Fofana rather than relying on Chalobah could send a clear message.

The Egnlishman’s time at the club may well be up. Therefore, Inter could have the chance to go for him.
