Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu believes that the signing of Juan Cuadrado makes the team stronger.

Speaking to The Digest, via FCInterNews, the 29-year-old emphasized the Nerazzurri’s intention to fight for the Serie A title this season, also singling out his new teammate Cuadrado.

The arrival of Cuadrado certainly came as a surprise to many.

Having palyed for the Nerazzurri’s Derby d’Italia rivals Juventus for eight years, the Colombian made the switch. He joined inter on a free transfer, signing a one-year deal.

Few would deny Cuadrado’s experience. And at 35 years of age, both he and the Nerazzurri evidently still believe that he can show his quality at the top level for another season or two.

Cuadrado is a player who’s won the Serie A title five times with the Bianconeri.

And for his part, Calhanoglu feels that the Colombian can be an asset to Inter as they seek to get their hands on the trophy.

Hakan Calhanoglu Praises Juan Cuadrado

“I’m glad he’s here,” Calhanoglu said of Cuadrado.

“He’s a great player, and I have no doubts about his ability.”

“I think he joined because he knows that Inter are a strong team,” the 29-year-old added.

“We already have plenty of great players, but with his experience he can make us even stronger,” he continued.

“He’ll take some time in training to understand our system, but I have no idea he’ll fit in well.”

Of the changes that have occurred throughout this summer transfer window, Calhanoglu observed that “Changes to the squad are inevitable in the world of football.”

“I’ve enjoyed my time at Inter with all the players who’ve now left,” he continued. “And I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.”

“The same can be said for the new Inter players,” Calhanoglu said.

“They’re good players, they’re young and they have quality.”

He predicted that “They’ll give something to the team, in the same way that the players who have now departed did.”

“The young players bring a lot of energy, and we have experience,” Calhanoglu said.

“I think it’s a well-balanced group. We get along both on and off the pitch.”

He added that “Thuram comes from Germany, and Bisseck is also coming from another country.”

“So I’m helping them to understand how things are done here in Italy.”

Calhanoglu also made clear that “We’re aiming for the Serie A title,” during the upcoming season.
