Inter Milan have had an initial offer of €22 million turned down by West Ham for Italian international striker Gianluca Scamacca.

This according to sources in both Italy and the UK, who have reported that the Nerazzurri have started negotiations with the Hammers with a first bid, but that the Premier League side have rejected this.

Earlier this evening, Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Inter have made an offer for Scamacca.

He explains that the Nerazzurri have put a figure of €20-22 million in the table.

Di Marzio reports that Inter are trying to get ahead of the competition for Scamacca’s signature.

Whilst the 24-year-old has had a mixed bag season in East London, he has no lack of suitors. Particularly in Serie A, where a couple of teams have shown an interest.

According to Di Marzio, Inter have decided to start talks with West Ham already this evening.

The Nerazzurri are particularly keen on getting ahead of the interest of Roma in Scamacca’s signature. Reports suggest that the Giallorossi are also getting their pursuit of the Italian underway today.

West Ham United Reject Inter Milan’s Initial Offer For Gianluca Scamacca

According to UK outlet Talk Sport, however, the Hammers have turned down Inter’s initial bid.

They report in a tweet that the Nerazzuri’s offer was for £17 million. This is equivalent to right around €20 million.

That is around half of what West Ham paid to sign Scamacca from Sassuolo twelve months ago.

Whilst the Hammers could be willing to sell Scamacca for a loss, and the player’s intention is to leave the club and return to Serie A next season, that is still too much of a loss.

In any event, Di Marzio reports that Scamacca is still waiting to see if Roma can sign him.

The 24-year-old is from the Italian capital and supported the Giallorossi growing up.

Therefore, if Roma can satisfy the Hammers’ demands, they could have an edge over Inter.

However, Di Marzio also adds that Scamacca would hardly turn down a move to Inter. He would also be particularly happy to join the Nerazzurri given that they will be playing in the Champions League next season.
