Inter Milan midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan feels that the team are doing everything they can to win the Serie A title next season.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews, the Armenian gave his thoughts ahead of the upcoming season.

In less than three weeks’ time, Inter’s Serie A season will kick off. The Nerazzurri will begin their campaign at home against Monza.

The return to the league will be where a lot of Inter’s expectations lay. Last season, Inter had a memorable European campaign which saw them reach the Champions League final.

And in both domestic cup competitions, the Nerazzurri emerged victorious for the second season in a row.

However, in the league it was a different story.

Inter Milan Veteran Henrikh Mkhitaryan –  “Working To Win Serie A Title”

In the 2020-21 season Inter won the Serie A title for the nineteenth time in their history.

One more Scudetto would mean that the Nerazzurri would finally be able to put a second star above the crests on their shirts. Inter would be only the second team to have hit twenty Serie A title wins, after Juventus.

However, in each of the past two seasons, the Nerazzurri have failed to do so.

In the 2021-22 campaign, Inter missed out on the final day of the season to city rivals AC Milan. This meant that the Rossoneri matched them on nineteen total titles.

Then, last time around, Inter were miles off of champions Napoli.

A third place finish spared the Nerazzurri’s blushes after they had been outside the top four in the table at a much later stages than they’ll ever have anticipated.

Now, Inter will feel a particular motivation to do better.

“We’re working towards getting that second star,” said midfielder Mkhitaryan ahead of his second season in an Inter shirt.

He also added that “I can’t wait to play at San Siro again. I want to embrace all the fans after Istanbul.”
