Inter Milan could get a big boost in their pursuit of Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah in the form of the Blues closing in on a deal to sign Monacos’ Axel Disasi.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Chelsea re closing in on the signing of Monaco and France defender Disasi.
The 25-year-old should arrive at Stamford Bridge for a fee of around €45 million.
Disasi would be injury cover for another French defender in the form of Wesley Fofana. The former Saint-Etienne and Leicester City defender looks as though he’ll miss much of next season with a serious knee injury.
Therefore, the Blues have decided to move in the transfer market to find a solution.
However, Fofana is not the only player in Chelsea’s squad who Disasi’s arrival could have ramifications for.
There are also big question marks about what this move will mean for Trevoh Chalobah.
Disasi Move To Chelsea Could Help Inter Sign Chalobah
Chelsea defender Chalobah has been on Inter’s radar for at least a year.
During both last summer transfrer window and the January window, the Nerazzurri were reportedly looking at the Englishman as a replacement for Milan Skriniar.
The Slovakian did not leave then. However, he has done so now to join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Therefore, the Nerazzurri are still aiming to replace Skriniar before the end of the summer window.
Chalobah remains one of their major targets to do so.
And Disasi’s arrival at Stamford Bridge could well hand Inter a boost in their pursuit.
Chalobah is a graduate of Chelsea’s youth academy. However, the 23-year-old has never quite been first-choice for the Blues in defense.
The fact that the Premier League giants have chosen to sign a player for big money to cover for the injured Fofana rather than relying on Chalobah could send a clear message.
The Egnlishman’s time at the club may well be up. Therefore, Inter could have the chance to go for him.
