Shakhtar Donetsk have reportedly threatened Anatoliy Trubin of dropping him to the bench if he were to agree a free transfer to Inter Milan in 2024.

The young goalkeeper celebrated his 22nd birthday a couple of days ago. But despite his relatively young age, he has already established himself as a stalwart for both club and country.

The Ukrainian is a product of Shakhtar’s youth academy. He rose through the club’s ranks to become the first-choice custodian.

Nevertheless, the player’s contract will expire a year later. The young man would like to take this opportunity to embark on a new adventure.

For their part,  Inter have identified Trubin as one of the main candidates to plug the major gap between the sticks. Both Andre Onana and Samir Handanovic have left the club earlier in the summer.

Shakhtar Donetsk Threaten To Bench Anatoliy Trubin If He Seals Free Transfer To Inter Milan

However, the Nerazzurri haven’t been able to find an agreement with the Ukrainian over the custodian’s valuation.

Therefore, some reports suggest that the Serie A giants are gunning to wrap up a free transfer with the goalkeeper once his contract with Shakhtar expires next summer.

But according to O Jogo via FcInterNews, Shakhtar are threatening to drop Trubin to the bench for the entire campaign if he decides to join Inter Milan for free.

As the source explains, the Ukrainian club is open to selling the 22-year-old this summer. However, they’re willing to take some severe measures to prevent him from leaving for free a year later.

On another note, the source believes Benfica are offering competition for Inter in the race for the Ukraine international.
