Atalanta are reportedly looking to hijack Inter Milan’s offer for West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.

In recent days, the 24-year-old became the preferred target for the Nerazzurri who are looking to bolster their attacking department.

The former Sassuolo man has reportedly given his consent to a transfer to Inter Milan. The club has been counting on the player’s desire to join them as they look to wrap up a deal with the Hammers.

But in an unexpected twist, Atalanta have entered the fray and are looking to serve a blow for their Lombardian neighbors.

La Dea will soon collect 84 million euros by selling young Danish striker Ramsus Hojlund to Manchester United.

So according to Relevo via FcInterNews, Atalanta are looking to spend part of this sum on Scamacca.

These fresh funds will allow them to hijack Inter’s offer and meet West Ham’s asking price. The report adds that Scamacca is now reflecting on Atalanta’s offer.

Atalanta Are Planning On Overtaking Inter Milan In The Race For West Ham Striker Gianluca Scamacca

The source claims that Inter have put 24 million euros on the table in addition to bonuses. However, this wasn’t enough to sway the Premier League club.

The Italy striker enjoyed a stellar 2021/22 campaign at Sassuolo which earned him a big-money transfer to West Ham. However, he wasn’t able to display his best form during his first season in East London.

Yet, the Roman bomber still has admirers in Serie A as proven by the heating battle for his services.
