Inter Milan are eying a move for Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu. The Japanese is reportedly the favorite candidate to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s backline.

The Nerazzurri parted ways with Milan Skriniar at the end of the previous campaign. The Slovakian signed for Paris Saint-Germain after seeing out his contract with the Nerazzurri.

Veteran Italian defender Danilo D’Ambrosio also left the club following the expiry of his contract.

Therefore, Inter are looking to strengthen their defensive department by adding new names to the fold. Yann Bisseck has already joined the club, but another new signing is still needed.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Tomiyasu has emerged as the favorite for the role.

The 24-year-old already has some Serie A experience under the belt, having played at Bologna for two seasons (between 2019 and 2021).

Inter Milan Are Looking To Sign Arsenal Defender Takehiro Tomiyasu On Loan From Arsenal

In the summer of 2021, he sealed a deadline-day switch to Arsenal, signing a contract until 2025. However, he hasn’t been able to lock himself a starting spot in Mikel Arteta’s lineup.

For their part, Inter are hoping that Gunners accept an initial loan offer for the Japan international.

Tomiyasu is also a versatile defender. He primarily plays at right-back but can also serve at the heart of the backline.

Therefore, he could be the right profile to replace Skriniar on the right side of Simone Inzaghi’s three-man defense.
