Benfica are pushing to sign Inter Milan target Anatoliy Trubin, and will hold a meeting with Shakhtar Donetsk in London tomorrow.

This according to Portuguese news outlet Mais Football, via FCInterNews, who report that the Lisbon giants will meet with Shakhtar representatives as they aim to bring in the 21-year-old this summer.

At the moment, Trubin is a major target for Inter, but a deal this summer looks difficult.

Whilst the Nerazzurri have hoped to exploit the Ukrainian’s contract situation to obtain a reduced fee, Shakhtar haven’t budged.

Despite the fact that Trubin is out of contract at the end of next June, Shakhtar and Inter are still miles away on fee. The Ukrainian haven’t brought their asking price down.

According to Mais Football, the Ukrainians’ asking price for Trubin is no less than €20 million.

Inter want to sign the 21-year-old as their long-term goalkeeping solution. They will soon wrap up a deal for Yann Sommer as a shorter-term option, but Trubin is a key target for the future.

Reports have suggested that if Inter cannot get the price for Trubin down this summer, they could simply wait until next summer to sign the Ukrainian on a free transfer when his deal with Shakhtar expires.

Considering the player is keen to make the switch and has reportedly already agreed a five-year deal, this could be a viable strategy.

But a potential fly in the ointment would be the interest of Benfica.

Benfica Want To Sign Inter Milan Target Anatoliy Trubin From Shakhtar Donetsk

According to Mais Football, Benfica are serious about trying to sign Trubin.

The Portuguese champions’ Sporting Director, the outlet reports, will be in London tomorrow.

That is where Shakhtar will be. The Ukrainian club will be playing a friendly match against Tottenham Hotspur.

According to Mais Football, Shakhtar’s €20 million asking price would be an obstacle for Benfica as it is for Inter.

However, the outlet reports, the Lisbon club are determined to find a way.

So tomorrow’s talks in London could prove crucial in determining whether or not Benfica have a route to sign Trubin.
