Inter Milan could move for Atalanta striker late in the summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri could aim to get a deal done for the 32-year-old Colombian international if they are to sell Joaquin Correa.

Inter are still aiming to sign at least one more striker before the summer transfer window closes.

The priority now looks to be Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun. The Nerazzurri’s directors are convinced by the US international, although he is not quite the kind of profile that coach Simone Inzaghi is after.

The coach is still hoping to bring in a physical, out-and-out-centre-forward. The absence of Edin Dzeko and Romelu Lukaku leaves the Nerazzurri a little light in that department.

And according to Tuttosport, Inter could find a perfect opportunity to bring in a player like that late in the window.

Inter Milan Could Sign Duvan Zapata Late In Transfer Window

Veteran former Napoli, Sampdoria, and Udinese striker Zapata would certainly tick the boxes that Inzaghi is after.

The 32-year-old has an enormous amount of Serie A experience under his belt.

Apart from Zapata’s goalscoring attributes, the Colombian can also provide a reference point in attack. His physical strength and positional sense around the penalty area give the team a target to aim for, and his holdup play has been a vital attribute for Atalanta over the years.

And, just as importantly, Atalanta may well be willing to let go of Zapata for a relatively low fee.

Whilst La Dea have sold Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United this summer, they are making plenty of attacking reinforcements.

El Bilal Toure has already arrived from Mallorca. Gianluca Scamacca is soon to follow, whilst AC Milan’s Charles De Ketelaere is also heavily linked with a move to Bergamo.

Therefore, Atalanta will likely offload one or two attackers already in their squad.

In this sense, Zapata may be one player who will head for the exit door.

Inter have been linked with the Colombian on numerous occasions in the past already. And this summer, the stars may align for the transfer for happen.

However, the Nerazzurri would have to first make some space in their squad to accommodate Zapata.

In this sense, a departure of Joaquin Correa would be a necessary condition for the 32-year-old’s arrival. The Nerazzurri are not going to head into next season with five senior forwards fighting for just two starting spots.
