Inter Milan’s pursuit of Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun could come down to whether or not Steven Zhang gives the green light on investing in the US international.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

With Gianluca Scamacca now out of the picture, Inter’s search for a striker has a clear focus – Baogun.

The Nerazzurri have already been in contact with Arsenal regarding the 22-year-old. However, today looks to be the day that they will really step up their pursuit.

Inter will look to start seriously chipping down the Gunners regarding a fee for Balogun.

Whilst Arsenal’s demands so far have never fallen below €40 million, Inter believe that they can pay less.

Tuttosport anticipate that the Nerazzurri will aim to approach the Londoners’ valuation with a bid of around €35 million plus add-ons.

If Inter are willing to put that kind of offer on the table, the clubs will hardly be miles apart. Considering the player concerned also reportedly wants Inter, a move would then not be far away.

However, the Nerazzurri will still need the go-ahead from their owners to make that kind of investment.

Steven Zhang Green Light Will Be Key To Inter Milan’s Pursuit Of Folarin Balogun

So far, Inter President Zhang has already shown a willingness to invest a significant sum in signing a striker.

After Chelsea had flatly refused all loan offers for Romelu Lukaku, the Nerazzuri had been ready to offer a straight cash fee worth around €40 million.

That came after Zhang gave the go-ahead.

If Inter are to reach a similar benchmark in their offer for Balogun, a deal would certainly be within reach.

However, the Nerazzuri can naturally only do so with the owners’ approval.

Inter’s directors feel that Balogun would be a worthwhile investment. They expect that even with a significant transfer fee, the 22-year-old’s value could continue to rise.

But as of yet, Zhang and Inter owners Suning have not given the decisive approval. That is what will be needed for Inter’s pursuit of Balogun to really take flight.
