Inter Milan are still exploring their options for the striker role, but it could go down to a two-horse race between Alvaro Morata and Folarin Balogun.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi still prefers Morata over Balogun.

The 30-year-old has recently renewed his contract with Atletico Madrid. Yet, this hasn’t stopped the former Lazio manager from pushing for the former Juventus star’s signature.

However, the Inter management doesn’t share Inzaghi’s opinion on the matter. The club directors wouldn’t want to spend the cash on a veteran with little resale value.

Moreover, the Beanamta wouldn’t be able to utilize the Growth Decree (applicable to players signed from abroad) to save on his gross wages.

That’s because Morata plied his trade in Italian football (particularly at Juventus) less than two years ago.

Therefore, the Inter hierarchy inclines towards young Arsenal striker Balogun.

A Tug-Of-War Between Alvaro Morata And Folarin Balogun Is Brewing As Inter Milan Continue To Search For Their New Striker

The Nerazzurri are willing to splash 30 million euros plus another five as add-ons for the 22-year-old. The Serie A club could also offer the Gunners a percentage on a future resale.

But despite the head-to-head between Morata and Balogun, Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on other profiles.

As the source explains, the Italian giants are still monitoring Udinese’s Portuguese striker Beto and Iranian veteran Taremi.

The 31-year-old Porto star has other suitors on the market, including Tottenham Hotspurs, as the source notes.
