Inter Milan new boy Yann Sommer considers his save against Kylian Mbappe at the Euros in 2021 to be the best of his career.

Speaking to InterTV, via FCInterNews, the Swiss international also named his favourite musician.

Yesterday, Sommer signed his contract and made his move from Bayern official.

It’s been something of a long chase, but the Swiss has arrived in the end.

Sommer is the man who Inter have settled on to replace Andre Onana following the Cameroonian’s big money move to Manchester United.

It won’t be an easy task to replace Onana. But Sommer is a player with extensive experience, both at club and international level.

Inter have gotten their man, and they’ve brought in a player with bags of experience and a big reputation.

Whilst Sommer’s excellent spell at Borussia Monchengladbach had a lot to do with that, his performances for the Swiss national team have also caught the eye on the biggest stage.

Not least the new Inter keeper’s outstanding performances at EURO 2020. Sommer was a key player as Switzerland dispatched France in a round of sixteen thriller that went to penalties after a 3-3 draw.

Sommer proved the hero in the shootout, particularly with his save on France talisman Mbappe.

Asked about what the best save of his career is, Sommer replied “That’s a difficult question.”

“But I’d have to say the one that was most important was the one on Mbappe for Switzerland at the Euros,” he continued.

The 34-yer-old looked back, “It was a special moment.”

As for his first memories involving goalkeeping, Sommer said “I think it’s the gloves that my father gave me.”

“After that, the photos from back at home,” he continued.

Sommer also has a reputation for his love of music, including being a proficient singer and guitar player himself.

Asked about his favourite musician, the 34-year-old replied “Keith Richards, I like his energy on stage.”

He added that “My favourite Italian singer is Eros Ramazzoti. I saw him live in Munich a few months ago.”
