Bologna coach Thiago Motta has brushed aside rumours about the future of Inter Milan-linked striker Marko Arnautovic.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Rossoblu’s Coppa Italia first round clash with Cesena, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach made clear that he is still calling the 34-year-old despite some recent transfer links to Inter as well as Roma.

Arnautovic is the latest name to have emerged in Inter’s hunt for a new striker.

The former West Ham United and Stoke City man has enjoyed an impressive couple of seasons playing for Bologna in Serie A. Whilst he would be a short-term option without doubt, Arnautovic has demonstrated his adeptness at both scoring goals and holdup play.

Moreover, the Austrian has already spent time at Inter, albeit more than a decade ago and not having a prominent role.

Moreover, Inter aren’t the only big Serie A team to have reportedly shown an interest in signing Arnautovic.

Roma have also been heavily linked over the past couple weeks. Like Inter, the Giallorossi still need to make one more striker signing before the end of the transfer window.

Bologna Coach Motta Cools Arnautovic Transfer Rumours

Naturally, the sudden emergence of interest from a club like Inter in Arnautovic could be a headache for Motta.

The 34-year-old has been a vital player leading the line for Bologna since his arrival in 2021.

Naturally, the possibility of losing such a key man could be a blow to the Emilian club’s plans.

But for his part, Motta is not outwardly giving any indication that the transfer rumours about Arnautovic have phased him.

The former Italian international and Inter midfielder is just focusing on his job and letting his club handle transfers.

“Marko has prepared well in preseason,” Motta said.

“Marko knows what I think, and vice-versa. The same with the club.”

The Bologna coach also made clear that “He will definitely play tomorrow.”

“As far the transfer market goes, you’ll have the chance to speak to [Bologna directors] Sartori, Di Vaio, and Fenucci,” Motta added. “It’s their decision to make.”
