Porto striker Mehdi Taremi continues to climb in the pecking order of Inter Milan, reportedly usurping Folaring Balogun as the preferred target.

The Nerazzurri are desperate to sign at least one new striker before the season kicks off. Simone Inzaghi’s men take on Monza in their Serie A opener on August 19.

With Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko both out of the club, the Inter manager lacks a natural target man that compliments club captain Lautaro Martinez and new signing Marcus Thuram.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, Taremi could prove to be the right profile in this regard.

The Iranian is a physically imposing striker with a clinical touch in front of goal. However, the main hurdle remains Porto’s asking price.

Mehdi Taremi Is Now The Preferred Transfer Target For Inter Milan After Overtaking Folarin Balogun

The Portuguese giants are reportedly seeking 30 million euros for the services of the Iranian international. This isn’t a low figure for a player whose contract will expire a year later.

Yet, the Dragao are keeping their price high also thanks to interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The North Londoners could turn to Taremi in case Harry Kane leaves for Bayern Munich.

Concerning Inter, their other transfer targets are also costly. This includes Balogun and Beto.

Arsenal won’t sell the USMNT star for less than 35 million euros. For their part, Udinese have slapped a price tag of 30 million on Beto.
