The father of Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic is confident of a transfer to Inter Milan going through.

This according to Serbian news outlet Mozzarsport, via FCInter1908, who report that the 21-year-old’s father and agent has said that the talks are “headed in the right direction” despite the unexpected holdup yesterday.

Most expected that Samardzic would already have been an Inter player by now.

The German-born Serbian international underwent his medicals with the Nerazzurri a couple days ago. And yesterday, there was a meeting with the player’s entourage to try and work out the final details so that Samardzic could put pen to paper.

However, Inter were in for a rude awakening.

In place of prominent agent Rafaela Pimenta, who had handled negotiations with the player up to that point, Samardzic’s father Mladen showed up to Inter’s headquarters as the player’s lead representative.

And reports suggest that Mladen brought a different set of demands than the ones that had been agreed via Pimenta.

Inter flatly rejected these changed conditions. Therefore, for the time being the status of Samardzic’s move is uncertain.

Father Of Lazar Samardzic Still Confident He’ll Join Inter Milan

However, Samardzic’s father has given his perspective on things to Mozzarsport.

According to the Serbian outlet, Vujadin has claimed that he never gave authorization to the prior negotiations.

Therefore, despite a deal already being in place between Inter and Udinese, there was no basis for personal terms.

That, he claims, is why he showed up to Inter’s headquarters yesterday. The former RB Leipzig midfielder’s father came with the intention of hammering out a deal in place of the unauthorized one that Inter had agreed via Pimenta.

This leaves Inter having to try and work out an agreement on the fly. And reports suggest that the Nerazzurri are far from happy with the situation and not wanting to budge.

However, for his part, Mladen feels that there are reasons for optimism.

He told Mozzarsport that negotiations are “headed in the right direction.”
