Napoli could move for Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic as his transfer to Inter Milan is close to falling through.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Partenopei could think about swooping in now that it looks as though a move to the Nerazzurri is not likely for Samardzic.

If only a few days ago a move for Samardzic to Inter had seemed all but inevitable, that is no longer the case.

On the contrary, the transfer now looks to be on its last legs.

Unless either Inter or the player and his entourage are to change course in a hurry, he won’t be joining the Nerazzurri after all.

That naturally raises the question of where Samardzic will end up going.

The German-born Serbian international does have other suitors. Moreover, Udinese could still aim to cash in after their young midfielder’s big money move to Inter fell through. The likes of West Ham United and Juventus are reportedly keen.

But, the Gazzetta report, there is also another possible destination in the form of a team who have already shown interest.

Napoli Could Decide To Move To Sign Udinese Midfielder Lazar Samardzic

According to the Gazzetta, Napoli are one team who could seriously revive their interest in signing Samardzic.

The Partenopei have already completed one major sale this summer – defender Kim Min-Jae’s transfer to Bayern Munich.

Meanwhiule, Piotr Zielinski looks soon to follow the South Korean out the exit door. The 29-year-old is strongly linked with a move to Al-Alhi in the Saudi Pro League.

These two deals bring in around €80 million, so the Partenopei have cash on hand to spend.

Whilst Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga is at the top of Napoli’s shortlist in midfield, they may not stop there.

The current Italian champions also remain big admirers of Samardzic.
