Simone Inzaghi has asked Inter Milan to sign a defensive reinforcement soon, but is in no hurry ahead of the team’s Serie A opener against Monza.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the coach will wait patiently for the Nerazzurri to sort out the situation in defense in the remaining couple weeks of the transfer window rather than being impatient with a signing.

At the start of the transfer window, signing a defender always looked to be a priority for Inter.

The departure of Milan Skriniar was something set in stone for months. Even though the Nerazzurri coped well with the Slovakian’s injury last season by moving Matteo Darmian to centre-back, reinforcements are a must.

Yann Bisseckm has arrived from Aarhus. However, the German is more of a signing for the future rather than a player to replace Skriniar straightaway.

And Inzaghi has been very clear that a new defender.

The corps of Bisseck, Darmian, Francesco Acerbi, Stefan de Vrij, and Alessandro Bastoni won’t be enough for the long season ahead.

Inzaghi Wants Inter To Sign A Defender – But Not Necessarily ASAP

However, the coach is content to work with what he has for the immediate future.

Heading into Saturday’s match against Monza, there is none injury doubt in defense – Acerbi may miss the match through a calf problem.

However, Inzaghi will likely go with Bastoni and Bastoni on the two sides of the back three. In the middle of the defensive united, Acerbi will start if fit. If not, it will be de Vrij.

From Inzaghi’s perspective, there is hardly an immediate crisis in defensive resources for Saturday’s match.

Whilst the team are rushing to wrap up some other business like Marko Arnautovic and Carlos Augusto, they’re not rushing in defense.

However, one thing that is nevertheless very clear is that before the transfer window, Inter will sign a defender.
