Inter Milan could sign one more striker this summer, but only if Joaquin Correa leaves.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello SPort, via FCInterNews.

Inter appear to have made their decision in attack – Marko Arnautovic will sign from Bologna.

Over the past few days, the Nerazzurri’s decision regarding a striker has been whittled down to Arnautovic and Porto’s Mehdi Taremi.

In the end, the Porto striker’s price tag was a factor in the Nerazzurri pulling out of the race. The Portuguese giants reportedly didn’t budge on their asking price of €30 million.

Moreover, there is the fact that Taremi would have likely been away for almost two months midseason playing in the Asian Cup with Iran. Inter were wary of signing a key player who’d be absent at a crucial point in the season,’

Inter Milan Could Sign Another Striker – But Only If Correa Leaves

On paper, Arnautovic’s arrival will mean that Inter have wrapped up their business in attack.

The 34-year-odl, and Marcus Thuram, arrive to replace Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko.

Alongside new Inter captain Lautaro Martinez, and Correa, this means four forwards competing for two slots in attack. This is sufficient depth, and has been the setup of the past couple seasons.

And if Correa stays, the Gazzetta anticipates that there’s little chance that Inter would move for another striker.

Financially and in terms of squad balance, another striker would be seen as overly burdensome.

However, the Gazzetta report, the Nerazzurri are still hoping to offload Correa before the summer transfer window closes.

The Argentine has looked like an outcast at Inter for some time. Therefore, the Nerazzurri have telegraphed their willingness to listen to offers this summer.

So far none have emerged, and so it may be difficult Inter to find a solution in the last couple weeks of the window.

But for their part, the Nerazzurri are still hoping.

If Correa does leave, then Inter will sign a replacement.
