Former Nerazzurri defender Antonio Paganin feels that Inter Milan have weakened significantly during the summer transfer window.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInter1908, the former defender suggested that the Nerazzurri have dropped off considering the players they’ve lost during the summer.

Inter have certainly had an eventful summer transfer window.

By the time the window closes, the Nerazzurri will likely have hit double figures for both departures and arrivals.

Out have gone a number of players who have been stalwarts of the team for the better of a decade. And in have come players who’ll have to establish themselves in an Inter shirt.

The profile of players who the club have brought in this summer has skewed towards younger players.

And for his part, former defender Antonio Paganin is not wholly convinced by what he’s seen.

Antonio Paganin Argues Inter Milan Have Gotten Weaker This Summer

Paganin argued that “Inter have lost a lot of heart and soul with the transfers of Dzeko, Lukaku, and Brozovic.

“Not to mention, Handanovic and D’Ambrosio.”

“On a technical level,” he argued, “Thuram and Arnautovic cannot replace Lukaku and Dzeko at the moment.”

As far as the title race next season, Paganin suggested that “At the moment, I see Inter a step behind the other teams.”

The Nerazzurri kick off their Serie A campaign against Monza over the weekend.

After last season’s third place finish, the aim will certainly be to win the title.

Inter did so in the 2020-21 season. However, in each of the past two campaigns, they have fallen short of expectations.

In the view of Paganin, however, the squad that Inter have at their disposal won’t necessarily be enough.

A lot of the new arrivals will have the pressure on them to prove this kind of skepticism wrong this season.
