Inter Milan and Bayern Munich will hold key talks for defender Benjamin Pavard tomorrow, as Nerazzurri push to sign the Frenchman.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

Inter have made Pavard a major target in defense for the final days of the summer transfer window.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi has even admitted as much.

Inter have gone all summer without making a defensive signing the replace Milan Skriniar. Now they’re setting their sights on Pavard.

But agreeing a deal with Bayern for a transfer of the Frenchman won’t be easy by any means.

The Germans reportedly don’t want to lose hold of Pavard.

Even though the 27-year-old’s contract runs out at the end of next June, and the German champions could risk losing hold of him on a free transfer next summer, they are still inclined towards keeping hold of him.

Inter & Bayern Schedule Key Pavard Talks Tomorrow

In any event, FCIN report, the two clubs will be back at the negotiating table tomorrow.

For their part, Inter are ready to push to sign Pavard.

And then the player concerned also wants the move.

Pavard has made little secret of his preference to join Inter rather than staying at Bayern this season.

Therefore, a lot will depend on the Bavarians’ resolve to keep the player in spite of the mounting interest from the Nerazzurri.

Other circumstances have played a key role in the Nerazzurri’s decision to go after the Frenchman.

The collapse of Inter’s deal to sign Lazar Samardzic from Udinese is key among them.

The Nerazzurri had been prepared to invest a significant cash outlay in a deal for the Serbian former RB Leipzig midfielder. Now, they will have that cash on hand to spend elsewhere.

If the plan a couple weeks ago had been to invest in Samardzic and make a lower-cost defensive signing, now Inter are evidently shopping from the top shelf to reinforce at the back.
